There are championships for Dressage, Show Jumping, Showing and Eventers Challenge with a vast array of classes, there is truly something for everyone!
The competitions are divided into 3 levels so that riders and handlers can compete against their own peer group: Mini Tour is for beginners and newcomers to the sport of equestrianism; Small Tour is for novice combinations; Grand Tour is for more experienced and ambitious competitors. All competitors must be amateur and predominately unaffiliated, without recent success in affiliated competition.
With over 1,600 horses and ponies competing each year, there’s a lot to fit in! The Championships start on a Thursday with a Dressage day, featuring warm up classes and arena familiarisation followed by the opening Small Tour Championships. Friday is a competitive Dressage Day featuring Small & Grand Tour classes. Show Jumping classes are focused on warm up and fun competitions, while showing is all about training and getting ready for the show ring with expert guidance from judges. Saturday and Sunday are full-on Championships with as many as 10 competition arenas in the beautiful grounds at Hickstead, its busy, buzzing and exciting!
Each competition throughout the show is a championship in its own right, with fantastic yellow star-pointed rosettes, sashes, medals, embroidered rugs and goody bags to be won. Many championships also qualify for a Supreme Championship for more chances to win superb prizes donated by our generous sponsors. The dream of being crowned a champion on the hallowed turf of the All England Jumping Course can now come true for any equine enthusiast.
